Jeff Berkowitz practices in the areas of tax, estate and family planning, trust, probate, passthrough entities and general business, and real estate law. He has expertise in all aspects of taxation including individual, corporate, real estate, partnership, controversies and estate planning. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of transactions in many industries, with an emphasis in the entertainment and real estate industries. He specializes in structuring complex transactions and representing closely held businesses and wealthy individuals. Jeff speaks and writes on various local and Federal tax-related issues.  Earlier in his career, Jeff practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts.

Jeff’s representative experience includes the following:

  • Represented purchaser of shopping centers and other commercial real estate in excess of $600 million
  • Represented Canadian tax shelter in connection with lawsuit for failure to pay profits

  • Represented radio broadcaster and syndicator in structuring tax favored arrangements with major talent
  • Successfully represented numerous clients in connection with tax disputes with the IRS
  • Represented numerous clients in connection with structuring complex Section 1031 tax deferred exchanges
  • Represented numerous purchasers and sellers in connection with the purchase or sale of closely held businesses for purchase or sale prices of between $5 million and $60 million
